About Sound Healing
The term “sound healing,” can be misleading: there is no promise or guarantee that healing will happen. Instead, sound and music can provide support and guidance as you explore, with curiosity, your inner experience.
It is possible that during your experience that your breath deepens, your blood pressure lowers, and you access a space of deep calm and relaxation. Even if this state only lasts during the session, your body is experiencing rest, which is necessary for the body to repair itself and heal, which can occur on both physical and emotional levels. Through this framework, sound healing can be viewed as a supportive environment that can help the body attune to relative safety and find restoration.
About Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented, "bottom-up therapy" developed by Dr. Peter Levine to resolve chronic stress and trauma by moving and releasing stuck survival energy. Unlike talk therapy, SE focuses on sensations (interoception) and nervous system regulation to help clients process trauma safely, without re-traumatizing them through intense, direct, or memory-focused exposure.
By incorporating SE, either with suggestions and prompts for group work, or with direct 1:1 support in private sessions, we can turn the focus back to the body, and connect with the sensational present, rather than experience total dissociation.
About Hypnosis
Ericksonian hypnosis, developed by Dr. Milton H. Erickson, is a branch of hypnosis that shifted away from direct commands to indirect, empowering methods, using metaphors and storytelling to engage client's unconscious mind and activate their own inner resources for change, making it more personalized and effective than traditional hypnosis. It emphasizes client autonomy, facilitating self-discovery rather than imposing solutions.
By combining Ericksonian hypnosis and music, we can better understand altered states that may arise. It also provides a framework to work with dissociation, which when combined with Somatic Experiencing, creates a holistic approach that includes all states.
